This month’s Member of the Month award goes to commandant, for his excellent contributions to the Fitness forum. Commandant put forward the idea of running a TSR Transformation Contest and put a lot of time and effort into turning the idea into a reality. The transformation contest has its own dedicated forum and is proving to be really successful so far! A great community initiative.
Congratulations commandant, and thank you for working so hard to make the contest a success!
PS. We are now accepting member of the month nominations from members. Make your nomination here!
We’re looking for new member of the team to join our Brighton office, whose main tasks will be working with the project and development team to ensure what we develop is fit for purpose and bug free!
You will need to be:
Highly organised
Diligent and have great attention to detail
Technically comfortable and very online savvy
Good at juggling lots of tasks
Able to deal with tight timelines and working under pressure
Desirable:
Previous experience of web testing would be advantageous, but not essential.
As would any knowledge of testing tools.
Some technical knowledge/experience would also be helpful, perhaps a grounding in HTML/CSS/Javascript and/or PHP/MySQL
An understanding of the development lifecycle, and in particular how software testing fits in
Most important though is to have an inquisitive mind and great attention to detail. Being keen to understand how things work, how to break them and how to fix them!
It is likely the position will run for 2 months, with the possibility of extension after this. The successful applicant should be expected to start immediately.
The rate of pay will depend upon the candidate and their experience, but typically £8 per hour, based on a regular working week.
It’s undoubtedly been a busy month in Study Help, with many members sitting A-Level and GCSE public exams (and good luck if you’re one of the few with your last A-Level papers left to go). We’ve seen some excellent contributions from many members but out of everything that we’ve seen, one member stood out as deserving of the first Study Help Member of the Month award for 2012. Congratulations go to Arsey, who has again been fantastic in supporting others in the Maths forum in Study Help – thank you!
We’re sure you’ll be interested to learn of the Eliahou Dangoor Scholarships, they offer £1,000 to outstanding first-year students of science, technology, engineering and maths at Russell Group and 1994 Group universities.
Basically, if you get a place to a STEM course at a Russell Group or 1994 Group uni, you may be in with a chance. Just ask your uni once you’ve got a firm acceptance.
This video explains more about the Eliahou Dangoor Scholarships:
Each month the moderators nominate and vote for the Member of the Month award, which is given to members in recognition of their contributions to the site. The winner receives recognition via the About forum and the TSR blog, credits for a month’s subscription to TSR and a £10 Amazon voucher.
From now on we will also be accepting nominations from members each month. If you know of someone who has made a valuable contribution to TSR, let us know and nominate them for the Member of the Month award! Anyone at all can nominate, you just need to tell us the username of the member you are nominating and why they are worthy of the award.
74 members entered the TSR transformation content, a community led idea to get fit and shape up in the new year.
We have been lucky enough to team up with MaxiRAW, the sister company of MaxiMuscle who have generously provided 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes for both male and female categories, for those that make the most impressive body transformation in a safe, healthy way.
As well as this, MaxiRAW will be judging the entrants and are also offering 2x FREE samples for anyone interested.
In recognition of the hard work our moderators do on the site, each month we award up to two mods for outstanding contributions.
This month, the award goes to:
Zoedotdot for her immense dedication to the Oxbridge forums, in particular the Cambridge forum. She continually works hard in these forums to keep them tidy and organised and to foster an active and inclusive community.
Congratulations and thank you for all your hard work!
In response to member feedback and requests, we have created a new ‘Learning to Drive’ forum for learner drivers to discuss any and all aspects of learning to drive from finding an instructor to passing the test. We’re really excited about this new forum and hope that you like it too
You may also have seen that the ‘Motoring Projects’ forum no longer exists. Threads from this forum have been merged into the main Motoring forum which is where these topics will live from now on.
We have also listened to your requests to organise the threads and content on insurance queries in a better way and will be working on some solutions. Keep an eye out for further updates…
It’s been a fantastic, action packed year on the site and just reading back through the blog is reminding me of things that we got up to! We teamed up with UCAS, supported Beach Break live, had an amazing results day and clearing period, partnered with select committees and launched our first TSR newsletter… to name but a few!
We have a feeling 2012 will be even more action packed Look out for site improvements, TSR on your mobile as well as lots of great partnerships happening on the site. Can’t wait!
To see in the new year we have also published the winners of the TSR Awards 2011
The member of the year as nominated and voted by members went to Ape Gone Insane. Congratulations!
The final Member of the Month award for 2011 goes to toronto353 for being helpful and proactive in the Applications and UCAS forum and also for his his excellent post reports, which are a great help to the Moderators.
Congratulations toronto353, and thank you for your contributions!
The final winner of the Study Help Member of the Month award for 2011 is a very long term and respected member of the Maths forum community, who I’m sure will be immediately recognised by many. Congratulations and thank you to nuodai for his continuing support in the forum, especially in the run-up to the January A-Level exams session!
Happy New Year to everyone, thanks to all of our winners for 2011, and good luck to everyone who has exams in the coming month!
